FAQ

What is the idea behind Kofer?

Kofer exists to manage private data in a way that is robust, hassle-free and privacy conscious. Too often users' data is locked in hardware or software ecosystem and not accessible outside of it. Kofer's goal is to change that. It should not matter what device or browser you are using or what operating system you are on. Your data should be accessible to you anywhere, anytime.

If a piece of data is considered private, it should eventually end up in Kofer.

Why isn't Kofer free? Why do I have to pay for it?

One of the ideas behind Kofer is that we want to build a service with privacy at its core. We strongly believe that this can be achieved when there is a strong ownership with a great vision. What is equally important is financial independence. Simply put: money in the bank means that we can make better, long term decisions that benefit out users, not the shareholders.

Unlike many "free" services, which make their revenue by selling user data or profiles to third-party advertisers, Kofer will always respect your privacy. We don't want to track your activities for business purposes or sell your data. Your information stays private and is used solely to provide you with the best possible service.

We also believe ads are bad for user experience. We don't want to clutter Kofer with ugly ads just to make ends meet. There has to be a better way.

Since we are building a service that hopefully exists for the next 150 years, we just can't do that without a sustainable business.

One thing that we can promise is that in the long run, Kofer will become cheaper and cheaper. We are not here to make a quick buck. We are here to build a service that will last for generations.
